What Does Dedicated Servers Hosting Represent?
When we talk about web hosting servers, there are three main kinds - shared website hosting web servers, VPS (virtual web hosting servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared servers accommodate plenty of clients and therefore the resources per account are restricted, virtual private server packages offer more server configuration liberty, but also affect other virtual private web servers on the hardware node if utilized unwisely, and dedicated servers give you the independence to carry out everything you see fit without messing with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated hosting server?
Dedicated servers are commonly much more expensive than shared servers or virtual private web servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your firm has a regularly visited web site, or just has very specific web server configuration requirements, the most suitable choice is a dedicated server. For somebody who is inclined to invest in safety and reliability, the higher price is not a problem. You have full server root access and can utilize 100 percent of the dedicated web server's system resources without anyone else using these system resources and interfering with your websites.
Hardware configurations
Most shared hosting firms, incl. us at cHostit, offer several different hardware architectures you can select from depending on your requirements. The hardware architectures include different varieties of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM and hard disk drive sizes and different web traffic allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a useful interface if you want to use the web server for website hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell console for all the changes you will be making. We offer 3 kinds of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The Control Panel of your choice
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could administer your dedicated server via a Secure Shell tunnel exclusively. That, though, could be inconvenient, even more so if you choose to give root privileges to somebody else who has less technical proficiency than yourself. This is why having Control Panel software pre-installed is a smart idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel user interface that we offer does not include complete server root access and is chiefly appropriate for someone who has multiple websites that demand lots of system resources, but would like to manage the web portals, databases and email mailboxes through a user-friendly Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, grant full root access and have 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting packages rather than utilizing the dedicated hosting server solely for yourself, you should pick one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at cHostit the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated hosting server too. Backups are also an additional feature - the web hosting services provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to save the same data on two server hard drives as a protective measure in case of a disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted complete root-level access deletes something by accident.
